  • Prenatal/Pregnancy
  • Sports
  • Structural Integration
  • Thai Massage
  • Chair Massage
Circulatory/Swedish

Swedish massage is the most commonly used form of massage. Typically characterized by specifically directed long gliding strokes, kneading, rolling, percussion and vibrational movements, this type of massage promotes utter relaxation and improved circulation. Circulatory/Swedish massage can be performed at varying degrees of depth to the body, please speak with your therapist about what you prefer.

Deep Tissue

Deep tissue massage uses a series of deep compressions and targeted pressure to affect the sub-layer of musculature and fascia along with the matrix web. This work can facilitate the release of chronic pain and muscle tension. It can aide in injury rehabilitation and reduces inflammation-related pain caused by a variety of ailments. Although the name suggests a very deep massage, there are still a variety of depths that can be reached, so please speak with your therapist about what you prefer.

Neuromuscular Therapy

Neuromuscular therapy focuses on promoting balance of the body’s central nervous system (CNS) with the musculoskeletal system. The CNS initiates and maintains pain. The goal is to relieve pain and biomechanical dysfunction through treating the underlying cause whether that be muscle spasms, trigger points, tissue hypercontraction, restricted matrix, or decreased venous or lymphatic flow. Typically, neuromuscular therapy is used in conjunction with other modalities to obtain the desired effects.

Prenatal/Pregnancy

A specially trained therapist that understands the physiological and emotional changes that occur with pregnancy performs this massage. These therapists are well-versed with the complications, precautions and contraindications associated with pregnancy. Treatment is catered using specific techniques to reduce pregnancy pain, discomfort and concerns while enhancing the physiological and emotional well-being of both mother and fetus.

Sports

Sports massage is geared towards athletes of every kind, from world-class professionals to weekend joggers. It can be used to enhance pre-event preparation and to reduce recovery time for maximum performance during training or after an event. Specially designed sports massage promotes flexibility, reduces fatigue, improves endurance, helps prevent injuries and prepares the body and mind for optimal performance. Timing, technique and intent of massage allow our therapists to cater their work to the client’s specific needs in their sport by utilizing numerous modalities and stretching to achieve their goals. Sports massage can be done fully clothed directly before or after your event, or as a part of your training and recovery programs. Ask your therapist for recommendations on timing your sports massage to meet your goals!

Structural Integration

Based on the work of Dr. Ida Rolf, structural integration is based on the idea that the entire structural order of the body needs to be realigned and balanced with the gravitational forces around a central vertical line representing gravity’s influence. With a focus on the myofascial system (ligaments, muscles, tendons, and connective tissue), a ten-session cycle is performed to stretch and guide fascia to a place of easier movement in order to create a more resilient, higher-energy system, free of inhibitions.

Thai Massage

Thai massage has been in practice for over 2,500 years originating under Buddha’s personal physician, Shivago Komarpaj. Based on the theory that the body is made up of 72,000 sen, or energy lines, of which ten hold top priority, Thai massage uses peripheral stimulation to produce specific internal effects. Thai massage is performed on a firm mat on the floor, although some adaptations can be made for table work. This practice has often been compared to passive yoga for the client. The practitioner uses his or her own body weight to stretch the client while performing compressions throughout the session. Thai massage is practiced fully clothed except for the feet, so draping is not necessary.

Chair Massage

Also known as seated massage, chair massage is performed on a specially designed massage chair fully clothed. Various massage modalities can be practiced in this position and is a great alternative for clients that are uncomfortable receiving massage on a table and/or disrobing. The ease of setting up for chair massage allows bodywork to be done on-site and in public settings.

NOTE-WORTHY

Going for a massage requires very little preparation. Our therapists advise adequate daily water intake but especially before and after your massage. We ask that you be clean and not eat directly before a massage. Please show up 15 minutes prior to your appointment and report accurate health information to your therapist. Your therapist will discuss specific findings with you and let you know of any potential side effects. We love feedback, so speak up before, during and after your massage to report any discomfort, requests, or concerns (or relief and pleasure!) We believe an open dialogue with our clients facilitates the best bodywork and optimizes the healing process.
