Physical Therapy for Kids?

Physical therapy can work wonders for helping us get back to sports, hobbies, or even simple tasks we once took for granted, but did you know that physical therapy can help kids of all ages, too? Catalyst is excited to announce that we are now accepting pediatric patients! Here’s a little more about what we can do to help your little one succeed…

What is Pediatric Physical Therapy?

Pediatric physical therapy is a specialized practice that is dedicated to helping children function to the best of their ability, improving participation at home, school, community, and in recreation. A unique aspect of pediatric PT is that we use a play-based approach to help kids improve muscle strength and motor function, reach motor milestones, interact with their environment, and actively take part in all aspects of life.

Does My Child Need PT?

Pediatric physical therapy encompasses a wide variety of medical diagnoses. We’re trained to examine, evaluate, and treat everything from musculoskeletal disorders — like sprains, strains, and breaks — to congenital abnormalities — such as torticollis, plagiocephaly, developmental hip dysplasia — to neuromuscular conditions — such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, and Down Syndrome.

How Do I Find Out More?

If you think your kiddo might be appropriate for PT, give us a call!  We can put you in contact with Missy, our pediatric therapist, who can answer your questions in a free 15-minute consultation. If it’s determined that your child could benefit from physical therapy, we’ll set him or her up for a full, hour-long evaluation with the blessing of your child’s pediatrician (i.e. prescription). From there, Missy will work with your family to develop a personalized program that suits your little one.

If you have any further questions, you can email Missy at mg@catalystptandwellness.com. We look forward to helping your child thrive!
