More About Work Related Injuries

Our clinic’s expanded schedule and open concept floor plan allow an injured worker to recover effectively. We offer early morning and evening appointments to avoid work schedule conflicts. Our front desk team schedules over the phone and sends text/email reminders to the worker while monitoring attendance to ensure compliance and accountability is maintained. In addition to our treatment plans for injured workers, we offer employer assistance with managing their employees’ physical and health needs through our Corporate Wellness Programs. These programs have been designed to identify at-risk individuals that battle with both chronic and acute illnesses. Custom wellness programs can then be designed to assist the employee with forming good habits and making smart choices that will allow for longevity in the workplace. Our corporate attitudes are changing from a “sit down and suck it up” kind of mindset to a “speak up and take care of your physical and mental needs!” Thus, our programs will assist the employer on shifting the focus to preventative medicine allowing for greater job satisfaction.

Why workers' compensation cases run smoother at Catalyst

Workers' compensation physical therapy works best when the clinic understands the documentation, authorization, and return-to-work requirements as fluently as the clinical care. Catalyst handles workers' comp cases across all three of our San Diego clinics, with physical-therapist supervised physical therapist appointments delivering hands-on bodywork, skilled therapy to correct faulty biomechanics, and bite-sized exercise progressions you can actually sustain. Our front-desk team coordinates authorization with the carrier, schedules around your work obligations, and provides the documentation your case manager and treating physician need to keep the case moving. Clinically, our focus is twofold: get you better, and build the work-specific functional capacity required for return-to-job duties.

What to expect at Catalyst

Your first visit

We start with a thorough conversation about your history, goals, and the issue that brought you in — then run hands-on assessments: range of motion, strength, joint mobility, and movement-pattern testing relevant to your condition. You leave with a working diagnosis, a plan of care, and the first round of bite-sized exercise prescription.

Every follow-up visit

Each visit puts you with a physical therapist for hands-on bodywork, skilled therapy to correct faulty biomechanics, exercise progressions, and reassessments — so each session builds on the last. We update your home program with bite-sized changes, not a flood of new exercises.

How long will care take?

Most acute conditions resolve in 6–12 visits over 4–8 weeks. Chronic conditions and post-surgical rehabilitation typically require 16–24 visits over 8–12 weeks. We’ll give you a personalized estimate after the initial evaluation, and we’ll tell you honestly when discharge is appropriate.

What to bring

Photo ID and insurance card · any imaging or surgical reports related to your condition (MRI, X-ray, op notes) · comfortable clothing you can move in · a list of your current medications. Plan to arrive 10 minutes early to complete intake paperwork, or

No referral required. California is a direct-access state — you can begin physical therapy at Catalyst without a physician referral for up to 45 days or 12 visits, whichever comes first. See our insurance page for coverage details.
