What should I expect BEFORE my first visit?
What should I expect during my first visit?

Your first visit will consist of setting up a time and place that works for you to meet with one of our highly skilled physical therapists. This therapist will conduct a thorough examination of your bodies’ posture both statically and dynamically. A large emphasis will be placed on understanding your functional movement patterns and how they limit your potential in the things you enjoy doing regularly. After identifying your physical needs, goal setting is set up to ensure you have a clear path towards your destination. (either in-person or virtually)

How does the concierge program involve a “team of professionals”?

Additional team members needing to get involved to assist you with achieving your goals will be coordinated to follow up and deliver care. Our holistic team members include nutritionists, personal trainers, massage therapists, acupuncturists, and yoga therapists.

How long does each appointment last?

The first appointment lasts an hour and follow up appointments can range from 30 minutes to 2½ hours depending on what services you need. For example, one of our most popular treatments involves a yoga or strength session with a trainer followed by an hour long massage.

What does the pricing look like?

This depends on what is uncovered and decided upon during your first visit. While we do factor in a mileage cost for travel, the pricing remains competitive with what is expected in Southern California’s elite gyms and spas.

How far do you travel to see concierge members enrolled in your program?

In California, our mobile practitioners have been known to see people from as far South as Coronado to our Northernmost client in Carlsbad. Although we are most popular along the coastline and in the heart of the city, we also have members in Poway and Carmel Mountain Ranch.

In Colorado, our Physical Therapist is seeing people that fall within a 30 minute drive of the Anthem Community in Broomfield.

How frequent are the visits?

It depends as our plans are tailored to meet your needs. Our “Rolls Royce” plan includes daily visits by one of our wellness professionals. We also have members that prefer monthly or quarterly visits – similar to the frequency you would expect with going to a salon.

Can I use my insurance to pay for concierge care?

Currently, our holistic health professionals are not able to bill federal and private insurance companies for in-home services – as we are not delivering in-home physical therapy found with typical home health agencies. However, our services might be something your own private insurance will reimburse you for and we can provide an invoice illustrating the services rendered if you would like to contact your insurance representative to ask.

Why patients choose Catalyst mobile PT

Sometimes the clinic is not the right place for the patient — whether because of post-surgical mobility, child-care logistics, or a busy work schedule. Catalyst mobile physical therapy brings a physical-therapist supervised physical therapist appointment to your home, office, or training facility across San Diego, with hands-on bodywork, biomechanics-focused testing, and bite-sized exercise progressions you can keep up with on your own time. We work with your space and equipment, or bring portable tools as required. Mobile PT is particularly common for post-surgical recovery during the first few weeks at home (total joint, lumbar surgery, post-fall recovery), for patients with limited mobility, and for executives and athletes who cannot fit clinic visits into their schedule. We coordinate with referring physicians and surgical teams as needed, and transition you to in-clinic care when that becomes the better setting.

What to expect at Catalyst

Your first visit

We start with a thorough conversation about your history, goals, and the issue that brought you in — then run hands-on assessments: range of motion, strength, joint mobility, and movement-pattern testing relevant to your condition. You leave with a working diagnosis, a plan of care, and the first round of bite-sized exercise prescription.

Every follow-up visit

Each visit puts you with a physical therapist for hands-on bodywork, skilled therapy to correct faulty biomechanics, exercise progressions, and reassessments — so each session builds on the last. We update your home program with bite-sized changes, not a flood of new exercises.

How long will care take?

Most acute conditions resolve in 6–12 visits over 4–8 weeks. Chronic conditions and post-surgical rehabilitation typically require 16–24 visits over 8–12 weeks. We’ll give you a personalized estimate after the initial evaluation, and we’ll tell you honestly when discharge is appropriate.

What to bring

Photo ID and insurance card · any imaging or surgical reports related to your condition (MRI, X-ray, op notes) · comfortable clothing you can move in · a list of your current medications. Plan to arrive 10 minutes early to complete intake paperwork, or

No referral required. California is a direct-access state — you can begin physical therapy at Catalyst without a physician referral for up to 45 days or 12 visits, whichever comes first. See our insurance page for coverage details.
